the state of the union, or the acid in my gut

i've done my best to always avoid watching gw say anything, aware of my contempt for him. tonight, i decided it was time to actually watch his state of the union adress.
as he said repeatedly 4 years ago, his record does not match his rhetoric.
how can someone be such a pompous ass. and dick cheney is grrrrrrrrrr. i can't even talk about it.
a highlight of amusement, he was talking about respecting all life for a while. yeah respect this fucker.
it was one of those times that i could envision a marksman spraying the whole stage. i must go purge my soul of all this contempt. one more year. please only one more year.

mike gravel talks about creationism

mike gravel, one of our ignored by the media presidential candidates, said "creationism corrupts our youth",
and you know, he is right about that. here, he speaks about that very subject.

if you are not familiar with mike gravel, he was an alaskan senator for decades. he is the very man who released the pentagon papers to the public by reading them in a fillibuster. (the law protects congress from prosecution for anything said on the senate floor during debate etc) this took place in 1971.
this video is him telling the story of doing that. it’s almost 20 minutes, but it’s worth watching.

snicker snicker to giuliani

rally turned to angry mob over tardy giuliani in florida
seems old "911" couldn't even show up on time for his few supporters. what a dill hole. i still haven't figured out where the support he was going to gain after "winning" florida was supposed to come from. satan maybe? i hate to tell him that aside from himself, satan does not exist. just like the rest of the religious myth.

and on a not so funny note, if you did not know dennis kucinich was left off that awful debate i watched last monday, as he refuses to bed with the corporate world. this is a pretty good article about it from the black agenda report.

the corporate control of information must be stopped. people need to stop laying down and taking it. what a fantasy. no time soon.

what mr clinton needs to do

for the sake of america, bill clinton needs to shut the fuck up. he looks like a real ass, and dirty politics, which he accuses others of in his practicing of them, are unbecoming to any politician.

democratic debate

so, on monday, i finally watched one of the presidential debates. annoying, i tell you.

the first 45 minutes were mainly hillary and obama bickering. it was ugly, and insulting to my intelligence.
hillary had the stance not of a leader, but a real bitch. from the get go. she was, in my view, the main antagonst, leaving obama to have to defend himself. i'm not at all impressed.
and bill, if i had any respect before, it has gone down the toilet with his negative campaigning for his wife. people, hillary is only popular riding on bill and his alleged good leadership. oh and that she isa woman. people, you should vote based on a person's abiltities, not due to gender or race. yeah. and she could not say she would not take money from lobbyist. she would not say because she is but a republicrat.
i like a lot of what edwards had to say, when he could get a word in edgewise, but i'm not sure he has the stance of a world leader. he and obama should be runnin mates.
but i predict the bitch and obama. maybe not.
when are we going to change our 2 party system, and actually have a democracy? probalby when hell freezes over.
our political world is pathetic.

what child left behind mr bush?

you know, i don't buy it. homework does not benefit a kindergartener. i don't even think busy work should be given to older kids. most people do not take their work home, why the hell do they think it is good for the kids.
i personally don't appreciate the stress. i don't appreciate my tax dollars paying for a school to only give my child data but not make sure things are fully understood.
for instance, asia's homework has recently been consisting of write a sentence type questions. write two sentences about what you would do in winter if you were a bear. my issues, aside from this is kindertgarten is the fact that they haven't even really taught the kids to spell. i think to fully learn, that one must fully understand each step before proceding to the next. it's more than knowing data. if one doesn't understand, they have not learned.
i think that it is the schools' responsibility to teach, just as they did when i was a kid. i know this has a lot to do with that asshole gw's "no child (but yours) left behind act", but i cannot buy it.
they are trying to steal childhood from children, occupying them sun up to sun down with busy work. and if that isn't a way to burn a kid out on school and make them hate it, i'll kiss your butt.
if i am having to acutally be the one to teach my child, then what good is school? please somebody explain this to me. why am i not homeschooling. she'd get more, and ultimately understand more.
and with all this focus on kids writing in kindergarten, (despite the fact that studies show that most kids aren't redy for that until they are 7 or so and the same studies also show that despite when a kid learns to write, theys still are all at pretty much the same level by the time they are 10) when are they learning the real foundations of education.
maybe i'm crazy, but i just really don' think school should be so stressfull right off the bat. the way to educate is to get the person being educated to want to be educated. and that cannot be done with constant pressure. have i ever mentioned that now, asia wakes up at night puking at least once every week or so. when i took her to the pediatrician, they said it was acid reflux. very likely due to school, since she never had this problem before. she is 6. this kind of stress should be at least saved for much later years, if not at all.
god damn it. just wanted to share my frustration.
